Other cool news....SMS Wildcat C-team is 2-0 (way to go Coach Williams and guys) and our very own Beth Foster (choral director) had a very successful 3-week performance as Mother Superior in the OCT production of The Sound of Music (one of my favorites), not to mention the beautiful RED CARPET hanging directly in front of the office door.

Reflections...

WOW! I can't believe we've been in school for 3 weeks now. Looking back over the past few weeks, I can honestly say "I am amazed!" I keep asking myself at the end of everyday..."was this for real". I keep feel that I will eventually get pinched and wake up.

Anyone else feeling this way?

"What am I talking about?" you say. Let's see...kids who come in eager to get started and take notes. Kids excited about Algebra. Kids always having their materials and IDs. Kids being responsible. Yes....I said 'RESPONSIBLE'. At SMS, we caught wind of a unique program a teacher at SHS is doing with the kids in class....it's called "Are You Empolyable?" At SMS, we have decided to pilot this with our 8th graders. It's only been a few days....but I am very optimistic. How's your year going so far? I hope as wonderful as mine...I can't wait to get to school every morning...and for those who know me...that's saying something! I am soo NOT a morning person.

Well....KUDOS to our kids at SMS. And hopefully....KUDOS to yours.

Til next time.... ~Coop :o)

My Vision of the 21st Century Classroom

Did someone say 'Technology'? Yes!
'In the classroom'? Yes!
'In a math classroom'? Yes!

What better way to reach our students who have been born and raised in the techno-age. What better way to capture...and hold...their attention. My vision of the 21st century classroom is to enable all teachers access to technology that will captivate minds and take learning to the next level. Wireless...imagine that. Coming and going...always being connected. Surround sound and wireless microphones in the classroom...no more hoping you were heard and fearing you might have someone with a hearing disability. WOW! Digital cameras that let you take as many pictures as you'd like and use them instantly. PC Tablets...laptops and techno-overheads at the same time. Is it possible? YES IT IS! This is my desire to obtain and surpass. Can I handle it? I think so! Stay tuned for an update! :o)
